Woman hurt, Man killed in Royal Palm Beach ATV crash

ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL – A driver operating an ATV was allegedly speeding and impaired when they crashed their vehicle, injuring a woman and claiming a man’s life in the process.

This crash happened on the 50th block of Bobwhite Road near Commons Park before 8 p.m. Saturday, a WPTV report revealed.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the driver was traveling at a high rate and said the ATV occupants, who were identified as 32-year-old Evelyn Chavez and 54-year-old Arron Peña, did not wear seatbelts or protective gear.

Deputies did not say whether it was Chavez or Peña who was the driver. They did, however, confirm that Peña was declared dead at the scene, while Chavez was taken to an area hospital where she is expected to survive her wounds and was listed in stable condition.  No other occupants were involved.

Officials also indicated signs prohibiting ATVs in the area, so it is unclear whether charges or citations will be sought.

An investigation has begun, and no other details were revealed at this time.
