Woman, 38, fatally strikes tow truck driver in North Lauderdale

NORTH LAUDERDALE, FL – A 38-year-old woman lost control of her 2012 Lincoln SUV on West McNab Road East when she fatally hit a tow truck driver Saturday.

CBS 12 said this fatal wreck took place before 9 a.m. Broward County deputies said the driver of the tow truck stood outside his parked 2015 International Flatbed tow truck with the flashing lights on.

Officials did not say if the truck was experiencing mechanical issues, but they did say that the woman – Tawanda Hanberry – lost control of her car, and it rotated clockwise, which initiated contact with the tow truck driver standing outside the driver’s door.

First responders rushed the tow truck driver to a hospital, where he later died.

No further information is available.

Updates will be posted as more details emerge.
