Update: Miami officer, deputy injured in 2-auto crash

MIAMI, FL – Authorities confirmed that it was a Miami-Dade School Resource Police Officer and a Miami-Dade County deputy who was injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday.

According to new details from WSVN, the deputy had struck the officer with his vehicle at the intersection of Northwest 67th Street and 10th Avenue. The crash, reported before 5 p.m., had then led the officer to crash straight into a chain-linked fence, and the deputy’s black-colored car was totaled as a result.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and EMS were among the first responders summoned to the scene. Pandemics said they put a neck brace on one of the victims. They said this particular occupant sustained a left arm, right leg, and neck injury.

Once the neck brace was put on the victim, ambulance crews rushed both drivers to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Their current conditions have not been reported.

Miami Police, Miami-Dade Schools Police, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office joined forces together to investigate the specifics of this crash and help clean up the scene.

They closed the intersection for several hours and reopened the area later.
