Toyota fatally hits female pedestrian in Fort Lauderdale 

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A woman lost her life after walking across the I-95 South express lanes and getting hit by a Toyota Rav 4 Friday, NBC Miami said. 

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene after 5:30 p.m. After arriving, they declared the unidentified woman dead at the scene. The car was left with a damaged front windshield and hood. Troopers confirmed that the driver, a 40-year-old local man, remained at the crash site. 

No criminal charges have been formally announced. 

An investigation is underway.
