Tow truck driver hit, killed on Florida Turnpike

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A tow truck driver was killed on the Turnpike in Port St. Lucie on Sunday morning, local news reports.

The victim had parked on the right shoulder shortly after midnight on the Turnpike’s southbound lanes. He was then struck by a sedan driven by a 20-year-old Deerfield Beach woman.

This sent the man into the traffic lanes of the highway, where he was struck by three additional vehicles and killed at the scene. The woman who initially struck him remained at the scene but the other three drivers fled.

Police are currently searching for information on the other three drivers. They have not yet identified the victim.
