Three injured after helicopter crashes in Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, FL – Three people were injured after a helicopter crashed into a Miami Beach sandbar, WESH reports. 

The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The helicopter began to plummet for unknown reasons and the pilot was able to avoid crashing into the crowded beach but landed on a nearby sandbar instead.

The pilot remained uninjured but all three passengers were injured. Bystanders were able to help free all passengers before the helicopter flipped over.

Two victims were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition. The third victim suffered only minor injuries.

No one in the water was injured in the crash.
