Pedestrian killed in Spencer Lakes hit-and-run crash 

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A driver of a 1997 Chevrolet Astro van fatally struck a woman walking on 45th Street in the Spencer Lakes district before fleeing the scene. 

This collision took place on the north and southbound lanes west of I-95 before 5 a.m. Saturday, according to CBS 12. The force of the crash led to the woman being thrown 50 feet and landing in an outer right turn lane. 

West Palm Beach Police identified the woman as Madison Gerhard, 23, of West Palm Beach. 

Police were able to locate the suspect and van, which consisted of a  front right corner marker light. The suspect agreed to be questioned at the police station, confessing to the crime. Officials have not released his name at this time due to a criminal investigation.
