Pedestrian fatally struck by St. Lucie Co. deputy in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A woman was killed when she was hit by a St. Lucie County Deputy shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday. 

The woman was struck as she crossed U.S. Highway 1 at Crosstown Parkway, according to WPTV.  

Video footage from a nearby building showed that the 26-year-old deputy stopped in the middle of the highway, got out of the vehicle, and walked back toward the intersection. 

Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian, an unidentified 27-year-old woman, dead at the scene.
