One person dies, another arrested after Miami hit-and-run wreck
MIAMI, FL – Miami police arrested a 53-year-old man on Wednesday following a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened in the Brownsville area on Saturday, March 22.
WSVN said that the 53-year-old Ivan Maurice Houston was driving a black sedan when he crashed into a bus stop off Northwest 54th Street near 17th Avenue.
The car had overturned on its side, and Houston fled the scene on foot. Five individuals were waiting at that bus stop and sustained serious injuries as a result. EMS crews rushed the group of people to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Two occupants remain in critical condition, and one of the impacted people has later died. The deceased victim has since been identified as Patricia Valencia.
Houston was charged with driving without a license and causing death or serious injury with a vehicle. He also faces several other unlisted charges.
