One loses life after rear-end wreck in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A driver of a 2015 Lexus IS250 rear-ended a 2008 Honda Accord, leading the Honda driver to collide with a tree, claiming the Honda passenger’s life Friday.

CBS 12 said this collision happened before 2 a.m. on I-95 South in the center lane. Florida Highway Patrol said that after the Honda driver, a 17-year-old boy from Stuart, struck the back of the Honda, he then collided with the east grass shoulder.

After arriving, first responders took the Lexus driver, a 23-year-old man, to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie, and the Honda driver and Honda passenger, an 18-year-old woman, to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.

Just before 3:30 a.m., the woman succumbed to fatal injuries.

All lanes on I-95 were temporarily closed and have reopened. FHP launched an investigation and has not released other information at this time.
