Man dies week after major injury crash at Boynton Beach intersection
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – A 92-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon, about a week following a single-vehicle wreck on August 8 in Boynton Beach that left him with serious injuries, reports CBS12.
The wreck occurred on a stretch of Boynton Beach Boulevard at Lawrence Road at about 5:30 p.m.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), the elderly man was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on the inside lane of the road toward the traffic light when he failed to see the cars ahead or slow down in time. The man ended up swerving into the other two lanes and off the right side of the roadway. The SUV traveled over the curb and sidewalk, and then veered to the left before it collided with a tree.
First responders rushed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle to a local hospital for serious injuries. The PBSO confirmed that the victim had been placed in hospice care when he died from his injuries.
