Man, 75, killed in left-turn crash with utility pole in Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH, FL – A 75-year-old man driving a 2022 Kia Sorento lost his life after turning left at an interchange, then crashing into a 2010 Infiniti G37, and then a utility pole Saturday.

WPTV said this collision happened around 11:45 a.m. near Winston Park Trail and Hypoluxo Road, along the Winston Trails Golf Club. The driver of the Infiniti, an 18-year-old male from Boynton Beach, was speeding when he approached the junction.

When the Infiniti and Kia Sorento made contact, the Infiniti spun before eventually coming to a halt west of the junction while the Kia rotated counterclockwise. As a result, its driver, identified as David Schaeffer, crashed into the power pole and stopped southeast. The Infiniti eventually came to a halt west of the junction.  One of the cars then rolled over.

First responders rushed the 18-year-old to Delray Medical Center and then declared the 75-year-old man dead at the scene.
