Man, 65, fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A 65-year-old man succumbed to fatal wounds after he was struck by a driver who fled the scene on Broadway Avenue Saturday.
West Palm Beach Police told CBS 12 that they suspect the victim, later identified as Leroy Abrahams, was walking from eastbound Broadway to westbound Broadway (south of 32nd Street) when he was hit.
After 7:33 p.m., a passerby noticed Abrahams, who was found unconscious, on the southbound lanes and called 911. Upon arrival, officers did what they could to save Abrahams’ life by conducting CPR on him. However, despite those life-saving efforts, Abrahams passed away at the collision site.
The police department started an investigation and said evidence suggests the hit-and-run suspect was operating a black sedan. Detectives believe the vehicle sustained front-end damage and a broken windshield as a result.
Law enforcement urges the public to reach out to the phone numbers listed in the initial source should they have any information on the suspect or can provide more details regarding Saturday’s deadly collision.
