Man, 33, loses life in fiery pickup truck crash near Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, FL – A 33-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his 2020 Dodge Ram Truck and crashed into a dirt berm, leading it to catch fire.

According to CBS 12, this collision occurred before 7 p.m. Wednesday along Osprey Pond Lane. A preliminary report from Palm County deputies indicates the driver — Steven Babici — may have experienced a possible medical episode just before the crash. Good samaritans tried to rescue him but had no luck with the locked vehicle doors.

The fire started when the undercarriage of the truck got hot, resulting in a fire. The flames spread to the compartment. Fortunately, fire crews were able to extinguish the flames. However, despite best efforts to help Babici, he succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
