Man, 21, hospitalized after Delray Beach car fire

DELRAY BEACH, FL – First responders took a 21-year-old man to hospital for treatment of some face lacerations he suffered when his car caught on fire Saturday.

WPTV said this incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on I-95 North.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue said before they arrived, several good samaritans risked their lives to pull the man, identified as Travis Smith, out of the burning vehicle. When fire crews arrived, they worked to extinguish those flames, and an ambulance took the man (who was issued a trauma alert) to a local hospital, where he is currently recovering.

Fire crews did not specify if the fire was caused by mechanical issues or as a result of a crash.

Updates will be posted should they become available.
