Male pedestrian hit, critically hurt by car in Royal Palm Beach
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — A 72-year-old man was hospitalized with critical injuries Tuesday afternoon following a pedestrian crash in southeast Royal Palm Beach, according to CBS12.
The incident was reported on a stretch of eastbound Southern Boulevard east of State Road 7.
A preliminary investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) found that a 26-year-old woman was operating a Kia Forte eastbound on the road when the victim, Josue Andres Parker, abruptly entered the eastbound highway on foot without yielding to oncoming traffic. Authorities said the male pedestrian was struck by the Kia moments after running into the car’s direct path.
Parker, who was pushed over the car and then onto the roadway, was rushed to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition. No other information regarding his injuries has been made available.
The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to a local hospital.
An investigation remains ongoing.
