Fort Lauderdale hit-and-run leaves cyclist dead

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A man was killed on his bicycle Sunday morning after being hit by a car that fled the scene in Fort Lauderdale, CBS Miami reports.  

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Nob Hill Road and West Oakland Park Boulevard.

The victim was riding north on Nob Hill Road when he was struck by a car also traveling north. The impact broke the bike in half and the driver fled the scene.

The cyclist sustained critical injuries and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police are still searching for the driver.
