Female pedestrian hit, killed by Brightline train in downtown Delray Beach

DELRAY BEACH, FL — A woman died late Tuesday night as a result of a pedestrian and Brightline train collision in downtown Delray Beach, according to WPBF.

The incident unfolded on the southbound lanes near Atlantic Avenue, at around 11:30 p.m.

Preliminary details show a Brightline train was passing through on the southbound tracks, when the woman, who was walking behind the closed gates, was struck.

First responders pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

No further information has been made available at this time, but authorities urge anyone with information to reach out to Delray Beach Police Detective Mike Liberta by calling 561-243-7874.
