DUI driver causes deadly fiery rear-end wreck in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A 32-year-old man whose car caught on fire after getting rear-ended by a DUI driver succumbed to fatal injuries Friday, WPTV reports.

The events unfolded around 2 a.m., when the DUI driver, 37-year-old Daniel Albarran Bonja, a Bradenton resident, struck the back of the Cadillac XTS sedan, operated by the 32-year-old man, later identified as Jason Bartley, a Boynton Beach resident.

The force of such a crash prompted Bartley’s sedan to slam into a concrete wall, leading his car to catch fire. The fire spread quickly, resulting in Bartley’s sudden death.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Bonja showed signs of intoxication, and his blood alcohol content results reflected that of an impaired driver. Authorities arrested him for DUI manslaughter, driving without a valid license, and causing a fatality.
