DUI driver arrested after causing rear-end collision in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A 68-year-old man was arrested for DUI after rear-ending a patrol vehicle with his Ram pickup truck Friday.

The crash took place around 11:30 a.m. on southbound U.S. Highway 1 along Savanna Club Boulevard, according to CBS 12. No injuries were reported for the deputy.

Deputies took the impaired man, John Trahan, a local resident, to the St. Lucie County jail for a breathalyzer test. Trahan was said to have been uncooperative, refusing to use the mouthpiece as instructed. He also failed to provide a urine sample, despite being given water to consume and a decent amount of time.

While booking Trahan into the county jail, deputies found amphetamine and dextroamphetamine pills on him. He has since been charged for drug possession in addition to two counts of DUI.
