Driver fatally strikes dirt bike operator in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A 19-year-old teenager operating a dirt bike succumbed to fatal wounds after he was struck by the driver of a 2013 Toyota Corolla Friday.
This collision happened before 8:30 p.m. as the driver was pursuing a left-turn into the Walmart parking lot from Belvedere Road and collided with the dirt bike rider traveling north on Military Trail, CBS12 reports.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the dirt bike hit the Toyota’s front door. Deputies also said there was not much street lighting, which may have played a part in reduced visibility, which caused the driver to not see the dirt bike rider, and in turn unintentionally hit the teenager, which ejected him from his bike.
Deputies did not say if the Toyota driver, a 32-year-old man from West Palm Beach, would face charges.
