Driver fails to yield, causing injury crash in Homestead

HOMESTEAD, FL – A Mercedes driver failed to yield the right of way on eastbound SW 256th Street and hit a Toyota going on Krome Avenue South, injuring both drivers and two toddlers.

This collision happened Sunday, and the impact had ejected the two young children from the Toyota, NBC Miami reports. The drivers sustained serious wounds, while the toddlers were flown via a medical helicopter to Kendall Regional in critical condition.

Florida Highway Patrol did not clarify whether the drivers were transported by ground to a hospital or were also airlifted

FHP shut down Krome for two hours for the standard scene clearance and investigation and has lifted all lane closures since.
