Driver arrested in fatal Broward County hit-and-run
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left two children dead on Monday afternoon, WFTV reports.
The fatal crash occurred in front of a Wilton Manners apartment building. The suspect was attempting to swerve around a bus when he mounted the sidewalk and struck a group of six children.
Two of the children, aged 5 and 6, died at the scene. Four others were injured and taken to a local hospital. The driver then sped away from the scene.
On Tuesday, police were able to locate and arrest the suspect, who has confessed his involvement in the accident. He is facing numerous charges, including two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries.
