Crash leads to shooting that claims life of man in Miami

MIAMI, FL – A man who was involved in a two-vehicle crash lost his life after he was shot several times by the other driver upon getting into an argument Sunday.

This collision happened before 8:30 a.m. east of the Miami International Airport, in the area of Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 32nd Avenue, NBC Miami reported.

Upon arrival, the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Orly Yeriel Cintron-Nieves, had fled the scene. First responders took the man who was shot to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. He later succumbed to his injuries — numerous gunshot wounds.

Police had later found Cintron-Nieves inside a home, where he closed himself off. They arrested him, booked him into custody, and then took him to Jackson South Medical Center, where he received medical attention for his lacerations.

Police who started an investigation don’t have all the details surrounding Sunday’s incident available. However, a cell phone video from an eyewitness showed that Cintron-Nieves shot the unidentified man multiple times (one eyewitness, Carl Smith, said six times) before running away. They confirmed that Cintron-Nieves will face many charges, which include “second-degree murder with a weapon and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.”
