Car-motorcycle crash in Miami Beach claims one life
MIAMI BEACH, FL – A motorcyclist lost their life after colliding with a sedan on eastbound MacArthur Causeway Thursday, NBC Miami reports.
The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. and warranted a response from Miami Beach police and ambulance personnel. EMS crews rushed the motorcyclist to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where they later died.
The exact events leading up to the wreck, including criminal charges against the driver, are being determined. Video footage from the sources indicated that one car had activated hazard lights, and a motorcycle was seen beside it. Officials, however, did not confirm if that specific car was the involved vehicle.
Due to the serious nature of the crash, authorities completely shut down the eastbound lanes. During the closures, drivers were asked to make a U-turn at Fountain Street and then use Julia Tuttle Causeway or Venetian Causeway to get around Miami Beach. All lanes have reopened since.
