Bicyclist struck, seriously injured by hit-and-run driver in St. Lucie Co.
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – According to a report from WPTV5 News, a 57-year-old bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in St. Lucie County on Friday night.
The accident was reported on Hutchinson Island, just north of Pepper Lane at 10044 State Road A1A. Authorities say the bicyclist was traveling north on A1A when he was potentially hit from behind. The driver involved fled the scene immediately after the collision.
First responders originally declared the bicyclist dead at the scene, but he later regained a pulse and was rushed to HCA Lawnwood Hospital for emergency treatment. He remains in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.
