1 hospitalized after North Miami Beach boat collision
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL – One person had to go to the hospital following a boat collision in the Eastern Shores community Saturday night, Local 10 reports.
The crash happened at 8 p.m. in the area of Northeast 17th Street and 35th Avenue. Captured footage showed a small boat slamming into a docked boat, which caused the docked boat to overturn. The operator of the small boat was said to have continued forward and kept speeding. The boat driver swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming watercraft and then crashed.
The occupants from the overturned boat, most of whom were children, had then swam to shore. The children appeared to have been unharmed, while one adult was hospitalized for unspecified injuries.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was among the first responders summoned to the scene.
Officials are working to determine the contributing factors behind the wreck.
