Wrong-way crash on US-27 in Palm Beach County claims 2 lives
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – Two people lost their lives early Sunday, December 29, due to a head-on collision northwest of Lake Harbor that also left three others injured, reports WPTV.
The double-fatal wreck occurred in the southbound side of U.S. Highway 27, near mile marker 85, at around 2:35 a.m.
Investigators learned that a driver in a Ford van was traveling northbound in the southbound highway when it collided head-on with a southbound Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 24-year-old South Bay resident.
First responders pronounced both drivers deceased at the scene.
Three patients were rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where two were listed in serious condition and the third was listed as critical.
An investigation remains ongoing, but the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the wreck.
