Man hurt in boat wreck in Delray Beach

DELRAY BEACH, FL – One man had to go to a hospital for injuries he sustained in a boat collision along the Intracoastal Sunday.

WPTV said the man, his wife, his daughters, and the daughter’s friends, a group of seven, were enjoying a recreational boat ride when they were struck by another boat that was said to have traveled at a high rate.

The other captain briefly stopped before fleeing. First responders said the man is currently recovering from an injury to his right bicep and a degloving to his pinky finger, while the occupants with him appear to have been unharmed.

The boat itself, the front portion specifically, was scrapped. The stern was torn, and their engine was also damaged. The family anticipates the repairs will cost about $80,000.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has agreed to investigate the specifics of this crash and has not released additional information, which includes pending criminal charges against the hit-and-run boating suspect at this time.
