Man, 44, fatally struck by hit-and-run vehicle in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A 44-year-old man crossing northbound 45th Street to southbound 45th lost his life when he was struck by a hit-and-run suspect Friday.
West Palm Beach Police told WPTV that the suspect’s vehicle, a 2009 Chrysler, had struck the pedestrian before continuing to drive away without rendering aid to the victim, later identified as Drew Robert Winters, an Altamonte Springs resident. The impact of the collision caused Winters to be thrusted onto an inside westbound lane, where he came to rest.
Upon arrival, West Palm Beach fire crews and medics declared Winters dead at the collision site. The next day, police recovered the fleeing motorist’s vehicle, found in Lone Pine Estates in Riviera Beach, although they still have yet to find the suspect themself.
Additional information, which includes when the suspect is found and arrested, will be provided, and an updated news blog will be provided upon confirmation from authorities.
