2 pickup truck crash in Hialeah sends 1 to hospital, kills another
HIALEAH, FL – A man driving a Dodge pickup truck died, and another driver, operating a Ford pickup truck, was critically injured when their vehicles collided Wednesday.
This crash took place around 5 a.m. in the vicinity of Okeechobee Road and Krome Avenue, NBC Miami reports. After Florida Highway Patrol and medical helicopter personnel arrived, troopers declared the Dodge driver dead at the scene while the other first responders airlifted the Dodge driver to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Both trucks were severely damaged, and because of the nature of Wednesday’s wreck, officials were left with no choice but to shut down the southbound lanes of Okeechobee for a little over two hours for the scene clearance and investigation period.
Amid the closures, drivers were advised to use Florida’s Turnpike and U.S. 27 as alternative routes.
