Update: Woman, 94, from Louisiana dies in semi, van crash in Davie
DAVIE, FL – Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that a 94-year-old woman from Louisiana lost her life after a Florida Turnpike crash involving a van and a semi-trailer Tuesday.
New details from WSVN also show that the woman died at the scene, and all the van passengers are from Louisiana. The surviving eight passengers were all sent to
Broward Health Medical Center and Memorial Regional Hospital, while the semi-driver was unharmed. To recap, none of the van occupants wore seatbelts, which could have played a role in the fatality and injuries.
Initially, Florida Highway Patrol and first responders said the youngest victim was a baby. However, it was later discovered that it was actually a 2-year-old toddler.
