Teen jumps from bridge, gets fatally hit by box truck in Palm Beach Co.

LAKE WORTH CORRIDOR, FL – A 17-year-old teenager passed away after jumping from the Hypoluxo Road bridge onto Florida’s Turnpike and getting hit by a box truck Tuesday.

This collision happened before 5:45 a.m. at mile marker 90, CBS 12 said. Florida Highway Patrol said the teenager had jumped onto the southbound lanes of the Turnpike.

After arriving at 6 a.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue paramedics declared the teenager dead at the scene and confirmed the truck driver was unharmed.

First responders closed the southbound lanes for several hours to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process.

Crews have since cleared the scene, and all lanes have been reopened.
