Hit-and-run driver fatally strikes moped operator in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, FL – A moped operator was taken to HCA Lawnwood, where he later passed away after he was hit by the driver of a Honda Civic Wednesday. 

CBS 12 said this crash took place before 8 a.m. at the Avenue O and North 23rd Street intersection. The suspect was said to have driven a golden brown Honda, which was damaged. 

Fort Pierce Police said the hit-and-run suspect, whom they have not identified, turned himself in. They did not specify what charges he will face. 

In addition, the police department has not released the victim’s name.
