One life claimed in Lake Worth car, pedestrian crash

LAKE WORTH, FL – A pedestrian died after he crossed the west and eastbound lanes of South Congress Avenue without using a crosswalk and was struck by a driver Sunday.

According to WPTV, officials said they responded to the crash around 8:30 p.m. What happened, they said, is that the driver of the Dodge, a 25-year-old man, traveled south within an inside lane. At the same time, the pedestrian entered the inside lane, which went against the motorist’s right of way.

As a result, the Dodge driver struck the unidentified pedestrian, and he was thrown before falling to the ground.

Emergency crews transported the pedestrian, where he died. First responders have not released the name of the pedestrian, only describing him as a “Mexican citizen with no age.”

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
