Turnpike accident leaves toddler dead, five injured
MIAMI, FL – A 3-month-old infant was killed and five others were injured in a crash on the Turnpike Sunday morning, CBS Miami reports.
The accident occurred around 3:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Quail Roost Drive. The accident began when a Toyota Sedan crashed into the back of a Ford Sedan.
The four people in the Ford, including the baby, where all rushed to Ryder Trauma Center, where the infant passed away.
The driver and passenger in the Toyota were hospitalized at Jackson South with non-life-threatening injuries.
Later, an SUV struck a police vehicle that was keeping an entrance to the Turnpike closed. No injures were reported from this incident.
