78-year-old cyclist fatally hit by car at Boynton Beach intersection

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — A 78-year-old man lost his life Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in southwest Boynton Beach, according to WPTV.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place at the corner of Pipers Glen Boulevard and El Clair Ranch Road at about 9:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim, Harry Mulder, was riding a bike on the sidewalk along El Clair Ranch Road toward Pipers Glen Boulevard. Officials say that as Mulder entered the crosswalk, he traveled into the path of a Honda CRV traveling eastbound and was struck.

Mulder was rushed to Delray Medical Center by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The sheriff’s office has not said whether the woman driving the Honda is expected to be charged.
