5 hurt in failure-to-yield crash with school bus in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, FL – An SUV driver failed to yield to traffic on Fort Pierce Boulevard, which led to a crash with a school bus that injured five people Wednesday.

The crash took place after 2 p.m. along Wintergarden Parkway, CBS 12 reports. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said the SUV motorist was turning to proceed through the northwest lanes at the intersection when they collided with the bus going north on Fort Pierce Boulevard.

First responders said three students were on the bus, and both drivers were all hurt. The drivers were taken to a hospital, while the students were all put into the care of their parents or guardians.

Deputies did not confirm if they cited the SUV driver for failing to yield.
