3 firefighters, 12 train passengers hurt in Delray Beach crash

DELRAY BEACH, FL – Three firefighters and 12 passengers on a Brightline train were injured in a collision that took place on Saturday, Dec. 28. 

WPTV said information about this crash, which happened specifically on Southeast First Street, was publicly released on Friday, Jan. 3. Surveillance footage indicates that at least one crossing gate went down when the fire engine truck went over the railroad tracks. At this time, the firefighters remain on administrative leave with pay as they recover. 

Officials have not specified the current physical conditions of the fire crews or of the train passengers. These details, along with the exact cause of the post-Christmas collision, will be added once new information surfaces.
