2 sent to hospital after head-on collision in Port St. Lucie
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL — Two drivers were injured, one seriously, Thursday evening due to a head-on crash on Southwest California Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, according to CBS12.
Port St. Lucie Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene just north of Southwest Grand Reserve Boulevard at around 6:38 p.m.
An early investigation indicates that a 28-year-old woman was driving a Mini Cooper southbound on SW California Boulevard near the intersection when she veered out of her lane, causing the Mini Cooper to enter the opposing lane an collide with a Chevrolet Tahoe heading northbound.
First responders rushed the driver of the Mini Cooper to a HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital for major head injuries, along with the driver of the Tahoe, who sustained more minor injuries.
Photos taken at the scene show significant damage to both vehicles.
An investigation into the circumstances of the accident remain in progress.
