2 hurt after semi catches fire upon colliding with train in Indiantown
INDIANTOWN, FL – A driver of a semi-truck collided with an Amtrak train, resulting in the 18-wheeler catching fire and injuring two train passengers Thursday.
This collision happened after 10 a.m. in the vicinity of Southwest Warfield Boulevard and Southwest Amaryllis Avenue, according to TCPalm.
Fire crews arrived at the scene after 10:30 a.m., revealing that despite the truck fire, the flames did not spread to the tracks.
The two train passengers sustained minor wounds, and the truck occupants refused treatment.
Martin County Fire Rescue and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said there were more than 70 train passengers and 14 crew members on site.
The train initially came from Miami, departing at 8:10 a.m., and then stopped at West Palm Beach and departed at 9:51 a.m. At the time of the reporting, the train had a delayed status.
