1 pedestrian killed, another hurt in crash with Miami police car
MIAMI, FL – A 23-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries, and another pedestrian was injured in a crash with a patrol car Saturday.
WSVN said the collision happened before 7:30 p.m. when the driver of a Toyota sedan hit a deputy driving a patrol car. Authorities said the civilian driver was turning left at the intersection of Northwest 47th Avenue and Seventh Street. After the vehicles collided, at least one of them hit the two female pedestrians.
Ambulance crews rushed the officer to Ryder Trauma Center and the two pedestrians to Jackson Memorial Hospital. There, the 23-year-old woman died. She has since been identified as Michelle Veronica Salmeron Membreno.
The officer and surviving pedestrian are listed in stable condition.
Authorities did not describe what kind of injuries the officer sustained. However, they confirmed that the living pedestrian is currently recovering from leg injuries.
