1 dead, 3 seriously hurt after high-speed crash in Royal Palm Beach
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — One person lost their life Monday afternoon due to a two-vehicle wreck in Royal Palm Beach that seriously injured three other people, reports WPTV.
The fatal collision unfolded in the 200 block of Ponce De Leon Street, prompting a response from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue units at about 2:41 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 37-year-old LaBelle resident was driving an Audi at speeds potentially 80 to 100 miles per hour. The Audi hit at least five trash and recycling bins and then slammed into a pickup truck with an enclosed trailer about a block and a half down the road.
Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Audi deceased at the scene.
Officials said three people from the pickup were listed as trauma alerts. One patient was rushed by Life Flight to an area hospital while the other two were transported by ground ambulance to a local trauma center.
By 4:00 p.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews had left the scene and the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office had initiated an investigation.
