According to the authorities, the crash happened when St. Lucie County police were driving in Fort Pierce when they spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen. They tried to make traffic stop, but as officers neared the car, the driver allegedly drove his car right into the police vehicle, hurting two detectives before the car sped away.

The driver crashed the car into another vehicle not far from the scene and fled on foot. First emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash happened. A pregnant teen who was a passenger in the second car was confirmed to have been fatally wounded at the scene of the crash.

Although firefighters tried to save the teen, she eventually succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. Two other passengers were hospitalized with critical injuries.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the man they believe to be the driver in Hobe Sound. Further investigations into the crash are ongoing.
