Thousands of Philips bulbs with burn risk recalled in the US
An estimated 370,000 light bulbs in North America are being recalled by Philips Lighting due to a burn risk that can cause personal injuries to consumers, an article from cpsc.gov reported on September 10.
According to reports, the affected halogen light bulbs can cause burn or laceration injuries if the lenses suddenly detach. In the 13 incidents of breaking bulbs received by Philips, at least five resulted in property damage and two resulted to laceration injuries. The halogen bulbs that were sold for about $10 nationwide were manufactured in China. Consumers who might have the recalled Philips bulbs are advised to discontinue use of the product immediately and coordinate with the company to get a new bulb replacement free of charge.
