A 17-year old of West Palm Beach reportedly lost control of the 2007 Toyota Camry he was driving and crashed into 23-year-old Nicholas Woodward’s 2013 Honda Civic. Woodward was stopped at the entrance to the Publix Super Market on Congress Avenue near Greenbrier Drive.

Woodward, of Fort Pierce, was waiting to turn right onto Congress when the 17-year old crossed all lanes of traffic and crashed into the Civic causing it to spin into a palm tree. The Civic then crashed into a parked 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. No one was inside the Eclipse.

Woodward died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt, state authorities said.

The 17-year old driver was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach with serious injuries.

Authorities are investigating what caused the 17-year old to lose control of the car. Police suspect that speed may have been a factor.
