Deputy seriously injured in St. Augustine motorcycle accident
A deputy on a motorcycle in St. Augustine recently suffered serious injuries after he was involved in an accident while on his way to respond to a crash, an article of The St. Augustine Record reported on September 8.
Reports said 30-year-old Deputy Thomas Bickhart was ejected from the motorcycle he was operating after he was struck by a vehicle on September 7. The collision occurred after another vehicle came into the motorcycle’s lane. Bickhart was responding to an accident on St. Francis Road when the accident happened. Though Bickhart fell to the grass, he was still listed in serious condition when he was transported to the hospital. The driver who caused the collision, identified as 43-year-old Thomas Emick, was given a citation after authorities learned that he failed to notice Bickhart while making a U-turn.
