1 killed in crash on US-98 WB in Okeechobee County

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, FL – WPTV News reports that one person was killed in an accident that took place on US-98 WB in Okeechobee County on Friday night.

The crash was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. just north of the Okeechobee city limits when a 49-year-old woman was driving a 2004 red Ford Ranger. Authorities say the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting a left-hand curve near Northwest 176th Avenue. Her vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a fence on the shoulder of the highway.

First responders transported the woman to HCA Lawnwood Hospital following the accident, where she was later pronounced dead.

No one else was involved in the accident.
